STARR (Semi-Trailer Automated Rapid Rail) System automated side loader. HEIL is the industry leader in efficient waste management. This heavy-duty vehicle offers superior functionality and reliability, making it an ideal addition to your waste management fleet. 

This truck is equipped with The STARR System which is an automated semi-trailer refuse and recycling collection system. It consists of an automated Rapid Rail arm mounted on a truck tractor, and detachable, semi-trailer packer bodies. This arrangement gives the STARR a 42-foot curb-to-curb turning radius, allowing it to easily maneuver around cul-de-sacs, alleys and tight corners without risky backing. This truck and trailer combination is in excellent condition! It is super easy to drive with a turn radius that is truly amazing! It is great for city, alley, and tight fit areas.

When the STARR body is full, the operator can simply detach it, hook up an empty one and continue on the route. With no need for a transfer station, the full trailers can be parked at a facility yard, serving as “mini transfer trailers” until it is convenient to take them to the disposal site.

The STARR’s trailerized body and automated arm are virtually identical to those on the Rapid Rail. The arm has an 8-foot reach, 1,600-pound lift capacity, eight second cycle time and lift geometry that provides a direct line to the hopper, without any kick out.

The STARR was also designed for easy maintenance. When the tractor or automated arm needs maintenance, the refuse packer can remain outside, creating a more favorable work environment for technicians. Plus, because the tractors and trailers are interchangeable, downtime is reduced. If a tractor needs maintenance or repair, its trailer can be attached to a different tractor and sent on the route. There’s also no need to replace an entire vehicle when the chassis wears out, as the body can be used with any alternative tractor.

These trucks are also often used as for just the day cab truck portion of this rig. Many companies find the day cab part to be a super value and often use then as a yard jockey, local city truck, around a farm and much more!

DRIVING IMPRESSIONS:
We drove this truck about 150 miles and it performed just as it should. It went through VA State Safety Inspection and they only found a small air leak at the air dryer, that we have in the que to repair. The trailer, if you want to run it as a trash trailer, only needs some marker lights. So, overall, surprisingly great first impressions on this overall nice garbage truck.
